Chapter 33

There was no one around, the streets were empty, and the pharmacy was still some

distance away…

Maggie was calculating in her mind when she noticed the strong smell of blood in the car

She paused, started the engine, and asked, “Where to?”

“Straight ahead, to Santa Pier.” He added, “I’ll tell you how to get there.”

“No need, I know the way.”

Maggie replied and started driving.

She concentrated on driving, and the man didn’t speak again, so the car became quiet.

Santa Pier was about half an hour away. Along the way, Maggie’s expression remained calm, and her driving was steady and precise. She didn’t make a single wrong turn.

The man, holding the gun, gradually changed the way he looked at her.

But Maggie didn’t notice.

A little while later, the man said, “Park under the banyan tree ahead.”

Maggie, “Okay.”

The car stopped smoothly by the side of the road, and the man still kept the gun aimed at her. As he got out of the car, she took her bag back and calmly started rifling through it. “I have some first aid supplies here.”

In the half–hour drive, the smell of blood in the car grew stronger. She knew the man was

probably injured.
