Ida froze in place, her body stiffening as if struck by lightning. She stared at Horace in disbelief.

"What?! You found a way to save Brittany, but it requires trading your life for hers?"

Ida's breath caught in her throat. She took a step forward, clearly shaken. "Are you really going to give up your life to save her?"
