Chapter 265

Sophia wasn't sure if Brandon's comment was loaded with hidden meaning or just off the cuff.

His eyes were cold and sharp at the moment, like a blade, laying bare all her thoughts with nowhere to hide.

"Goodness, it's getting late." Under his piercing gaze, her response came out involuntarily soft, "I want to head home early."

"A loner's home, does it really make a difference if you head back early or late?"

"Or is it," He looked straight at her, "that you're not the only one at home?" Sophia kept silent.

"Is it not a home if one lives alone?" She met his gaze squarely, flipping his accusation back at him, "You might not treat your place as a home, but I do. I just love being at my own place."

That sure hit a nerve with him.

She saw his lips purse slightly, but his gaze remained icy and penetrating.

"Sophia, you do realize you're dodging the question, right?"

Sophia pursed her lips, feeling a mix of frustration and reluctance.

Whenever Brandon got serious, she didn't stand a chance.

But Brandon didn't pursue the topic further.

"Let's head up."

After saying that, he turned and hit the elevator button.

The elevator doors opened.
