Chapter 635

Brandon also glanced her way.

The tender focus in his eyes made Sophia feel a bit squirmy, and she couldn't help but shift her gaze away a smidge.

"I didn't mistake you for someone else," Brandon finally broke the silence, his voice deep and gentle, "Sophia, even if I got the whole world wrong, there's no way I'd misidentify you."

Sophia's attempt at a smile kind of froze on her face.

"Oh, is that so..." she tried to pick her words carefully, "I kind of thought that between husband and wife... even with memory gone, there'd still be this natural vibe of affection."

She looked up at him with a sheepish grin: "But with you, it feels like I just can't warm up to you..."

Brandon managed a strained chuckle too: "Maybe it's because we've had our share of... let's say, not-so-great moments."

"What... kind of moments?" Sophia asked, puzzled, her wide eyes showing a hint of wanting to back away.

Her hesitation made Brandon's lips purse a bit tighter.

He hadn't figured out yet how to answer that question.

From the moment he found out she was alive to discovering her memory loss, he hadn't had the luxury of time to think about how to explain their past to her.

Should he concoct a half-true fairytale about how lovey-dovey they used to be, or should he lay out the raw truth of their past? He hadn't made up his mind yet.

The overwhelming joy of having her back had temporarily robbed him of his ability to think straight.

He hadn't anticipated her amnesia.
