Chapter 641

Sophia cracked a smile too, aware that he was using this moment to express the disappointment in his heart.

For a sec, she didn't know how to respond, just like when Kent greeted her with a "Welcome home." Maybe it was the lost memories that made everything feel so alien to her. Even though they gave her a sense of warmth, she just couldn't conjure up that feeling of belonging you get when you find your way home.

This truth sent a wave of panic through her.

She had no clue what kind of person she used to be. Why, even when this man claiming to be her husband tells her they're married and that he loves her, she couldn't feel that sense of finding her kin.

She'd even forgotten her kid.

Such a little one, still in desperate need of her mom, and yet she'd completely wiped her from her memory.

She feared that maybe it was her lack of affection for the child that led to this amnesia.

Oddly enough, unlike with Ivan, when he said they were boyfriend and girlfriend, she didn't doubt Brandon's word that they were husband and wife with a daughter. She just inexplicably believed him.

But even though she believed him, and felt warmth towards him, warmth wasn't closeness, trust wasn't dependence, and she just couldn't muster up any more emotion than that.

Brandon knew it too.

He responded with a faint smile and then fell silent.
