“No buts!” Thaddeus countered as he bent down to scoop his daughter into his arms. “We shouldn’t have come here in the first place! Let’s go! I’ll take you to find your sister. She’s waiting for us to rescue her!”

Bertha, embarrassed and helpless, watched her irritable husband leave. Sighing, she quickly bid farewell to Marlinie and Ellinor and followed her husband and daughter.
