"Looks like the surgery cleared your head this time," Jarvis said, as mean as ever.

I smiled and said nothing. He packed up his things and put a chocolate on the table. "Eat it when your condition allows."

I watched him, but he didn't look back. He simply turned and left. As the door closed, I glanced at the chocolate.

That day was my birthday, and though I rarely indulged in chocolate as a child or an adult, I had a sudden craving.
