"If Beryl remembers that Rufus is her father, then she should've remembered that I'm her grandmother. But ever since she woke up, she keeps looking at me like I'm a stranger," Laura said dejectedly.

Laura was one of the people who loved Beryl the most. She would've been devastated if her own granddaughter didn't remember her.

When Beryl was in a coma, it was Laura who stayed by her side almost every minute of the day.

"Maybe her mind's still a bit fuzzy from being in a coma. She should be fine after a while," I comforted Laura softly.

But Laura had a point. Since Beryl was able to remember Rufus, why didn't she remember Laura?

I just couldn't figure it out. There was an indescribable strange feeling in my heart that could be likened to dread. It seemed that something had changed in my daughter.

"Don't overthink. She was asleep for so long, so I think she's a little muddle-headed. Besides, she was afraid that she wouldn't be able to see her mother," Rufus said.

I nodded with a sigh. "That's the only explanation. We'll just have to be patient. The doctors said that Beryl's physical condition is fine, so maybe the problem still lies in her memory."
