KYLE'S POV.

Eavesdropping on people's conversation is a shitty thing to do. I don't encourage it. I don't do it, but I couldn't help myself this time around. I was too eager to know what my father had come to discuss with Alpha Reagan. It's true he's going to tell me eventually, but I was too curious to wait so I sent away the guards always stationed at his office door and thanks to our heightened sense of hearing, I was able to follow the conversation through the closed door.

I am not impressed with what I heard.

My father and Alina are at it again.

My father is a very proud man. He hardly bows to anyone's will and the last thing he'd do is lick anyone's shoes because he's in need of what the person has to offer him. But his actions lately baffle me. He's acting like a desperate man and it's exhausting to watch.

It's even more exhausting to watch him give Alpha Reagan such a hard time and I wish I could do something to stop all madness.

"Father!" I call for the umpteenth time as I catch up with him outside the building premises. Just like the other times, he ignores my call and keeps striding towards his car, but I step in front of him, blocking his path and that finally gets him to stop.

"What do you want?" He asks in irritation. My shoulders sag. I let out a heavy sigh.

"Father, we need to talk!"

"If it's not about you convincing that Alpha of yours to man up to his responsibilities, then I don't think that will happen." He takes a step to the right, but I do the same and block him yet again. His guards rush forward, but one dangerous side-eye from me makes them pause in their tracks and exchange frightened looks.

One step further and I'll send each one of them flying towards every corner of this premises. They know that because I've done it before. My silent warning seems to have sinked into their heads because they pace backwards and I look back at my father who's still frowning at me.

"Father, you need to stop this madness!"

"Madness!" He roars in disbelief. The wrinkles on his forehead become more prominent as his face darkens with rage. His nostrils flare and his eyes have a wild look in them, but none of that frightens me. Not anymore. "Madness you say?" He repeats and I nod my head, keeping a straight face.

"Yes, it's madness."
