While Charlie and Jacob hurriedly made their way to the hospital, Claire had already arrived. When both the men arrived at the ward, Elaine was holding Claire's hand, crying pitifully. Claire was constantly wiping her tears while feeling a tug in her heartstrings.

Although Charlie had heard that his mother-in-law suffered a terrible fate, he was standing outside and did not go in to check on her; thus, he didn't see to what extent her condition was.

Plus, after Elaine was taken out by Albert's men, she was directly sent to the hospital. Charlie did not manage to see her face either.

Now, seeing Elaine in person with a bluish-black nose and a swollen face, with a patch of missing hair on her forehead, he couldn't help but sigh in his heart. "Oh my... My mother-in-law is in quite a bad shape. It was indeed an unforeseen circumstance that put her in this state. Who would have thought that Carmen would really go after her?"

Seeing Charlie's arrival, Elaine, who was aggrieved, finally found someone to express her feelings of being wrong too. "My good son-in-law, I'm just feeling so miserable..."
