Chapter 140
Disappeared?
Grace frowned and asked, “How could someone who was perfectly fine in prison suddenly disappear?”
Fifteen shook his head, and replied, “They said she vanished during the half-hour activity time after dinner yesterday. It’s like she evaporated into thin air, leaving no trace behind.”
“No trace?”
Grace chuckled and commented. “Can someone of that size simply vanish into thin air? It’s impossible not to find any clues. We must thoroughly investigate! Find out who has recently visited her cell, how long they stayed, and examine every detail without overlooking anything!”
“Understood.”
“Wait.”
Fifteen was about to leave, but Grace stopped him with a grave expression and said, “Also, check all the recent visitation records for Tim.”
“You suspect…”
Before Fifteen could finish his sentence, Grace’s gaze turned increasingly cold.
Hopefully, she was just overthinking-
In the afternoon, heavy rain poured down relentlessly. As the day drew closer to sunset, the rain not only failed to stop but grew even stronger. The heavy rain splattered against the window glass, dividing the once pristine surface into numerous c racks.
The weather was ominously gloomy, as if silently conveying a message.
Grace stood by the floor-to-ceiling window, admiring the rain, her expression indifferent, her mind lost in thoughts.
Fifteen spent the entire morning and afternoon investigating and only returned to report to Grace when it was almost evening.
“Miss, I thoroughly checked all the records and found that there was only one person who visited. Nancy and Tim in the past half-month.”
Grace’s face grew dark. “Who?”
“It’s… Eric. Fifteen respectfully handed her the information and continued, “Moreover, not long ago, Tim also disappeared from the prison for an hour. He claimed to have accidentally entered the freezer and was locked inside by the staff. However…
“However, what?”
“When he was found, he was covered in blood with numerous injuries, seemingly inflicted by whips or similar objects… Both Tim and Erle appear to be under Mr. Fallen’s command.”
Grace furrowed her brow as she listened. “Why are you reporting this now?”

“Because at that time, everyone thought it was an accident, that he was mistakenly locked in the freezer due to a grudge with a big brother from the prison. After all, he wasn’t missing, so they didn’t consider it a major problem.”
Whips and other deadly weapons with a menacing aura don’t just appear in prisons. It was clear that they were taken out and then returned! The implication was obvious.
Suddenly, Grace remembered the unusual behavior of Edgar when she returned to the Bay Villa yesterday afternoon…
It seemed like he intentionally delayed her, afraid that she would discover Nancy’s disappearance. She cross-checked the investigation record and found that it was precisely during that time period that Nancy inexplicably vanished.
Could it really be such a coincidence? When she returned to the Bay Villa, Edgar wore a face full of joy…
Was he celebrating Nancy’s successful escape from prison?
Heh.
She thought he had truly repented during this period, but unfortunately, it was all to divert her attention and facilitate Nancy’s rescue, wasn’t it?
Were those remarks that claimed a wrong was wrong and when something was wrong, it should be punished just a load of bu lls hit in front of her? Except when it came to Nancy, right?
Unreasonable!
The more Grace thought about it, the angrier she became. She forcefully knocked over a stack of files on the corner of the table, sc at tering them all over the floor.
With a loud crash, the room was in chaos.
“Miss…
Fifteen had never seen her erupt like this before and took two steps back in fright.
Grace narrowed her cold eyes. “Return to the villa!”
To prevent her from impulsively taking the sports car in her anger, Fifteen willingly took on the role of the driver. The heavy rain pelted against the car window, making a loud noise that was irritating
to the ears.
The anger in Grace’s heart was not extinguished by the rain; instead, it burned hotter and hotter. Upon reaching the villa, Fifteen was about to grab an umbrella and open the car door for her, but he saw her getting out of the car by herself and walking straight into the garden through the rain.
Fifteen was alarmed and hurriedly caught up with her. “Miss! Use the umbrella! Don’t catch a cold!”
Inside the villa, Edgar was cooking in the kitchen when he unexpectedly heard Fifteen shout.
Checking the time, he realized that Grace arrived home twenty minutes earlier than usual, which made him quite pleased. He washed his hands after chopping vegetables and came out to greet her.
Just as he stepped out, he saw her entering through the door, raindrops clinging to her body and hair. Her delicate shoulders were completely soaked by the rain.
Edgar quickly went to the restroom to get a clean towel, and he helped her dry off.
“You didn’t bring an umbrella? Why did you come back in the rain? The weather has turned cooler recently. Don’t catch a cold. I’ll make you a bowl of ginger soup later, alright?”
Grace remained silent, her lips tightly pursed as she observed him. Seeing him speak with apparent concern for her, his face neither blushing nor his heart racing, and the undisguised indulgence and. affection in his eyes….
Using affection as a guise to lower her guard and find an opportunity to save Nancy.
What a clever tactic! What great acting!
Edgar noticed that her aura was growing colder and became a little puzzled. “Grace, what’s wrong
with you?”
Grace smiled with pursed lips, but her eyes were chilling.
“The fallen leaves in the garden outside are quite numerous. Go and sweep them clean.” Edgar subconsciously glanced outside the window. “But it’s raining heavily outside…”
“When you finish sweeping, then you can come inside.”
Grace ignored his words and coldly turned her eyes away, heading upstairs.
Edgar sensed that her mood tonight was off. Did she encounter something frustrating and want to take it out on him? He sighed helplessly and went to the backyard to get a broom to sweep the fallen leaves.
Just five minutes after rushing into the rain, his whole body was instantly drenched. Winter was approaching, and the leaves were falling recklessly, especially under the relentless downpour. No matter how much he swept, he couldn’t clean them all.
Grace stood on the third-floor balcony, watching indifferently. Her heart felt numb. If Edgar truly loved Nancy, he could have rescued her from prison right from the beginning.
They could have been enemies, confronting each other head on.
She could accept his indifference or even hatred towards her, but he shouldn’t have deceived her while pretending to love her and repay his debt.
