Chapter 57

Chapter Fifty Seven-1

After taking a shower, I sat at the edge of my bed, gingerly touching my sore ribs when a knock came at my door, I frowned. "Who is it?*

"It's me," Austin's voice said. "Let me in."

I hesitated but eventually opened the door. Austin stepped inside, holding a small jar of balm. "Thought you might need this."

I blinked at him. "You didn't have to."

"Sit."

I obeyed as Austin knelt in front of me, opening the jar and scooping some of the cool salve onto his fingers. His touch was gentle as he spread the balm over my bruises, his brows furrowed in concentration.

I watched him quietly, my heart softening as I noticed the care in his every movement. Alex and Austin were mirror twins-so identical that even their closest friends, Isaiah and Elijah, sometimes confused them. But I never did. I could always tell them apart, no matter how similar they appeared.

Austin's hand began to lift my shirt, and I immediately slapped it away. "Relax," he said with a playful smile. "It's not like I want to see your boobs." He rolled his eyes before adding with a smirk, "Okay, I'm lying. I do want to see them. But that's not why I'm here. I noticed she hit you in the ribs." His voice softened, and I hesitated for a moment before letting him proceed.

Gently, he applied a cool salve just below my breasts. The soothing touch eased the ache in my ribs, but the coolness against my skin made my nipples harden involuntarily. His fingers brushed along the crease of my breast, lingering slightly longer than necessary. He knew the effect he had on me-I could see it in his eyes, the way they darkened with something deeper.

Austin moved closer, and my breath caught as his lips brushed against my skin. Before I could stop him, his mouth wrapped around my breast, and a soft gasp escaped me. "Austin," I murmured, gently pushing him away. His mouth left my breast with an audible pop, his gaze meeting mine unapologetically.

"I couldn't help it," he admitted, his voice thick with desire. Before could respond, he cupped my face and kissed me deeply, his lips crashing into mine with an urgency that sent my heart racing. I surrendered to the kiss, pulling him closer as the world around us faded.

As the kiss deepened, Austin guided me backward until I was lying down, his body hovering above mine. But when he leaned on my aching ribs, a sharp pain made me cry out. "Ouch!" I exclaimed, wincing. He quickly sat up, concern flashing across his face.

"Are you okay?" he asked, his hands gently brushing my hair back from my face. "I'm fine," I murmured. "Thank you,.. for the salve."

Austin's lips curved into a teasing smile. "It's nothing. My mom gave it to me after you kneed me in the gonads for kissing you, remember?” he joked, pulling me onto his lap.

The memory made me chuckle, my cheeks flushing with embarrassment. "We were working on an assignment, and you and Alex cornered me," I said, shaking my head.

His expression grew serious. "Don't let what Lynne said get to you. You're the strongest among us, Stormi," he said softly before capturing my lips in another kiss. This time, it was slow and deliberate, every movement filled with emot

When we finally pulled apart, Austin rested his forehead against mine, his breath uneven. "You're something else, Stormi," he whispered, his voice laced with both admiration and longing,

I smiled faintly, my fingers still resting against his jaw. "You're not so bad yourself."

"Get some sleep, okay?"

I watched him stand and head for the door, my chest feeling a little lighter than before.

*Goodnight, Austin.*
