The sound of something nimbing woke me from a restless sleep, and my heart panded in my chest as I shot upright The scent of dust and mold filled the air, mingling with the faint scent of all wollt. We'd found some blankets and made makeshift beds on the floor. The twins were sprawled out, their chests rising and falling with every breath. For a moment, I thought it was just the temnants of another nightmare, But then i felt it again-vibrations through the ground, like a distant earthquake. I scrambled to my feet and rushed to the window, pressing my palm against the cracku, glass to steady myself.

"Stormi?", I heard Isalah foggy voice say.

"There's something out there," I whispered, barely daring to breathe

Then I saw them. The morning light filtered through the dense forest, but shadows moved between the trees-hulking, dark shapes. weaving through the underbrush. My breath caught as i recognized them-Umbrakins. A whole pack of them, moving in werie synchronization. Their black, distorted forms seemed to melt in and out shadows, and I shuddered, unable to look away.

"What's going on?" Austin's sleepy voice sounded behind me.I didn't look away from the window as I spoke,

"Umbrakins. A whole group of them, moving west,"

st," I whispered.

Austin grunted, stretching before joining me at the window. "What the hell?"

Isaiah moved to the opposite side of the cabin, looking through another window. He cursed under his breath. "Damn it."

Isaiah came up beside me and squinted through the dirty glass. "That's more than usual. They're not just wandering. It looks like they're headed somewhere."

"Where are they going?" Austin asked, his tone sharpening as he came to stand on my other side.

I shook my head. "I don't know, but I don't like it."
