I woke up to the faint glow of down tweaking through the trees. The forest was quiet, the air crisp and cold against my skin. I took mnment to stretch, feeling my misiscles ache from yesterday's battle. The memory of the Umbrakins and the chaos at the pack in territory still clung to me like a shadow. I couldn't shake the guilt that clawed at my chest every time I thought of the park members who hadn't made it.

But we had to get going. The sooner we got to our town, the better. We needed to get to that free we used as a portal last time,

Isaiah stirred next to me, his eyes fluttering open. He glanced at me and gave a small, reassuring smile. I forced one back, but it didn't quite reach my eyes. My thoughts were still tangled with worry. The other two were sprawled out on the ground, Austin snoring softly while Alex mumbled something incoherent in his sleep, I couldn't help but smile a little at the sight.

As I shifted to stand up, I noticed movement near the entrance of the ruined cabin. Alpha Ryan appeared, his steps cautious as he approached. I met him halfway, not wanting to disturbs the others.

"Morning." I greeted quietly

He nodded, his face somber. "You're up early."He hesitated. "Are you ready?"

I didn't answer that. Instead, 1 glanced over my shoulder to see Austin trying to kick Alex awake, which was proving harder than it should have been. Alex groaned and swatted at him, muttering something incoherent about getting five more minutes. Nalmost smiled, but the weight on my chest refused to lift. Isaiah nudged me gently. "Let's get them moving, We have a long way to go."

As if on cue, the door creaked open, and Alpha Ryan stepped in, his face etched with sorrow. I straightened, setting my mug

"What's wrong?" I asked.
