The car sped down the road for quite a while before McNeil finally realized

something was wrong.

"Wait-where's Gwyn?" he blurted out.

Violet had noticed Gwyneth's absence much earlier, but she hadn't said a word to McNeil.

His face fell. The chaos back there had thrown him off; all he'd cared about was getting Violet out safely. He hadn't even thought about Gwyneth.
