It was obvious she was buying for her mysterious boss. But honestly, this boss had to be loaded. Nearly everyone's attention today was glued to Gwyneth and Hans; the two had already dropped close to ten million dollars just on art supplies earlier. Now, without even blinking, they'd spent another three hundred thousand on a single designer jacket. The sheer extravagance was enough to make anyone feel faint.

Once the auction wrapped up, the organizers led the club members to private suites to wait while their purchases were wrapped and brought over. Gwyneth's group of three followed a staff member-only to unexpectedly cross paths with Connor and Laird.

"Oh? You're here too?" Gwyneth sounded genuinely surprised to see Connor, but he remained perfectly composed.

Connor glanced over at Hans, sizing him up. "So, this is your husband?"

He looked decent enough, Connor thought, but he didn't recognize him. There weren't many rich heirs in Greenvale he didn't know, and the way this guy spent money was impressive enough to make an impression. Still, in Greenvale's upper crust, men tossing millions for a woman wasn't unheard of.

Hans immediately understood what Connor was implying, but Connor's eyes had already darted to Hans's hand. No wedding ring. So, Gwyneth's talk of marriage was just a cover.

Leonie opened her mouth to clarify, but Connor, with that proud streak of his, wasn't interested in hearing any more "team lies" from them.

"I'm just here with a friend. Miss Langford, married and still out with another man -your husband must not care much about you," he said coldly. With that, he and Laird turned to leave. Laird, recognizing Leonie, offered an apologetic look before hurrying to catch up.
