Chapter 280

With swift movements, Alex and Anna threw the three back into their car, climbing over
the walls of the manor like raccoons.
However, just as they landed on the ground inside, sharp beeping alarm sounds were
heard.
“What’s happening? Are these infrared surveillance cameras?”
Both of them were stunned as they looked at each other, puzzled.
Anna nodded. “Yeah, I was too careless.”
Alex helplessly said, “I find you’re kind of amateur, could it be that you are a part-timer
in Divine Constabulary?”
Anna fumed and said, “I’m an official member! Isn’t that just an alarm? Why would we
need to dismantle it beforehand? It’s just the same if I barge in openly.”
Her team member earlier had given her the accurate bearings of Pepper’s location.
The two proceeded to rush to the north of the manor while ignoring the alarms.
Just then, a man in black came to meet up with them. He was a member of Divine
Constabulary and a member of Sky’s team as well. He was in charge of gathering
information and scouting the area.
“She’s in there.” The man pointed toward one of the maids’ bedrooms but his

expression seemed odd.
Alex could sense an abnormal level of hormones within the man.
Bang!
Anna, the brute woman, immediately kicked the door open.
At the same time, Alex noticed that the man in black quickly retreated into the dark.
After all, he wasn’t in the fighting units. Since Anna came and took over the situation, he
had successfully completed his mission and he could leave immediately, as if he had
never come here in the first place.
Screams could be heard from the inside of the room. Alex was quite familiar with this
room, so he stepped forward to turn on the light switch. After switching on the lights, he
saw John in disheveled clothes, whereas their target, Pepper Kimmich, was wearing her
clothes.
“Oh Lord, my eyes!” Alex froze for a while and then smiled. “Oh, it’s Secretary Kimmich.
Are you still working this late at night? A secretary’s job must be pretty hard!”
Only now did Alex realize the reason that guy earlier had such an odd expression.
“Alex Rockefeller, it’s you. Why are you here? Who let you in?” John was enraged. After
all, no one would be in a good mood after being exposed at a time like this, especially
when he saw Alex whom he hated so much.
Pepper was shocked as well. She was more terrified than John. That was because she,
who tried to assassinate Alex on the hillside just a while ago, learned about Black
Skeleton’s death. However, she believed that her identity had not been exposed. After
all, she had been hiding her identity for years safe and sound.
Hence, she knew that she had to keep herself calm and act normally in moments like
these. This was why she still came over to the manor after receiving orders from John.
Alex said calmly, “This is my manor, would it be a problem if I come here and walk
around? There’s still one month to go till it’s returned to its rightful owner. So, don’t you
dare destroy anything… Such sneaky activities, you should avoid doing them too!”
Pepper, who looked shy and embarrassed, was on the verge of tears. She really did
look like a weak secretary, who was forced to obey her boss’s irrational orders. She
might as well get an Oscar with such acting skills.
