Lucas had no affection for anyone from the Rivers family. When he heard the update, he simply waved it off. “Got it. No need to arrange for someone to take her home. Once she sobers up, she’ll leave on her own.”

“Yes, sir.” Andrew, ever the thoughtful assistant, figured there was no need to bother with a guest room–cooling off in the hotel lobby would do just fine.

When Lucas returned, Sloane was lounging on the sofa flipping through a magazine. She looked up at the sound of his footsteps. “All done?”

Sloane froze. It took her a moment to realize he was talking about her mother.
