“Ms. Sloane, please,” the general manager said as he pushed open the door to the private

room.

As soon as the door opened, Sloane spotted Lucas seated at the head of the table. His expression was cool, his presence commanding. Beside him, Samson and Benjamin were deep in animated conversation.

Hearing the door, all three turned their heads. Samson was the first to rise, flashing his signature broad grin. “Sloane, Jill, and that Clark kid—come on in!”

Lucas didn’t get up, but the icy sharpness in his features softened ever so slightly. A hint of warmth flickered through his dark eyes. He turned to the manager and said, “Serve the food.”

“Yes, Mr. Hawthorne.” The manager bowed and exited swiftly.
