Sloane smiled, the sharp edge in her eyes fading into something light and relaxed. “No. I just learned.”

Jill stared at her like she was looking at a superhero. “Oh my god, that’s insane!”

It had only been half an hour, and yet Sloane had completely destroyed Samantha and Summer.

Samson and Benjamin looked just as stunned. They, like Jill, had assumed Sloane was pretending to be bad on purpose–playing the long con.

No one had expected her to be this frighteningly quick on the uptake.

Lucas placed a glass of juice in front of Sloane. She looked up at him and said softly, “Thanks.”

Lucas took the seat beside her, legs crossed with easy elegance, one arm resting on the chair while his fingers tapped in a steady rhythm. His other hand lay casually across his lap. Even at rest, he carried the air of someone born to command.

He looked at Sloane with those deep–set eyes, the corner of his mouth curved in a faint, unreadable smile. “Your brother’s been showing up at Stonebridge University a lot lately.”

Sloane blinked, caught off guard. She turned to look at him, thoughts racing. Lucas would never bring something like that up if it didn’t mean something.
