Samantha stopped in her tracks and turned to glance at Marshall, her eyes cold and resolute. “So what if I don’t come back? The Rivers family is finished. You people have nothing left to offer me. If I don’t walk away now, should I stick around and go down with you? Instead of wasting time on me, maybe you should start thinking about how you’re going to survive bankruptcy.”

Without another word, Samantha walked away from the Rivers family, without hesitation, without a backward glance. She had no intention of going down with them.
