Chapter 212 The Legendary Queen

Jill froze the moment she heard Sloane’s words; her eyes went wide with shock.

“You ended it?” Jill finally found her voice, disbelief lacing her tone. “But why?”

Sloane took a sip of her bubble tea, her expression calm, as if she were talking about something completely mundane. “No big reason. I just felt the engagement was too much trouble for me, so I broke it off.”

Jill was momentarily speechless. The look on her face shifted from stunned, to confused, and finally to something more like helpless resignation. She scratched her head and muttered, “But Mr. Hawthorne’s so amazing. You were really okay letting him go?”

Sloane chuckled, her tone teasing. “Didn’t you just say he was a jerk and you’d never idolize him again? What, are you actually a fan?”

Jill immediately looked a little embarrassed. “I just thought he was the one who wronged you…”

“But honestly, it’s probably a good thing the engagement’s off,” Jill said, raising her brows. “That whole ‘marry for good luck‘ thing was way too unfair to you. Sure, Mr. Hawthorne is incredible, but you’re no slouch either! You’re a top student, a core member of Blackhawk, and a future legend in the making! If Lucas lets you slip through his fingers, he’s the one who’ll regret it.”

She threw an arm around Sloane’s shoulders. “Anyway, I’m with you–no matter what.”
