“What is that girl up to…” Lucas muttered under his breath, though he couldn’t stop the small smile tugging at his lips.

Inside the room, Sloane leaned against the door and exhaled softly. Her cheeks were faintly flushed, her heart still beating a little fast. She glanced down at her hands, and a relaxed smile slowly curved across her face.

“So I really have fallen for Lucas,” she whispered. It wasn’t exactly a surprise-she’d suspected it for a while. Now, she was simply sure.

She couldn’t help but giggle as she recalled the dazed look on Lucas’s face just moments earlier.

She was certain he had feelings for her too. She just didn’t understand why he kept holding back. It didn’t match his usual overbearing nature at all.
