Dan thought bitterly. Whoever ends up with that woman is in for a world of hurt…

“Cut the crap; we’re having lunch,” he snapped.

Andy went silent. I really don’t want to; it serves me right for even making this call.

Meanwhile, Marie and Derrick returned to the hotel. The entire way back, Marie was cursing under her breath; her mouth just wouldn’t stop, as if she wanted to bite Dan into pieces.

Once they got back, Derrick handed her a glass of lemon water. “Calm down; you’re pregnant now. You shouldn’t be getting angry.”

Everyone said pregnant women should avoid anger–stay cheerful, stay relaxed–so the baby would be born with a good temperament.

But just the thought of being pregnant was enough to make Marie furious.

“Get a doctor to check me,” she said sharply.

She wasn’t about to go to a hospital. But a pregnancy like this–wasn’t it something that could be tested quickly?

Derrick nodded and called Sebastian to find a doctor.

Sebastian picked up immediately. “Consider it done.”

Derrick frowned. “You’re not going to bring another mental patient this time, are you?”

Sebastian froze. That was… insulting. But he couldn’t exactly argue. After what happened last time, he’d earned that. Still, he couldn’t help defending himself. “That was an accident. The other guy was just too good at pretending.”

“Yeah, a mental patient–you treated him like a normal person.”

Sebastian went quiet.

He couldn’t keep talking about it, or he really would go crazy. That incident was going to haunt him forever. He honestly wished that fake patient would just disappear; what a nightmare.

This time, though, Sebastian handled things properly.

He quickly found a doctor, who rushed over for an emergency check. A simple urine test was done, and the result showed two bright lines.
