Tessa could feel it. This instinct is too strong to ignore.

Victor glanced at Silas. “You heard that?”

Silas nodded. “Yeah.”

Downstairs at the hotel, Lewis stood in front of Dale, blocking his way upstairs. Just seeing Lewis made Dale’s blood pressure spike.

Of course, Lewis wasn’t exactly all smiles either; he rolled his eyes so hard they nearly flew out of his head.

It was the perfect example of mutual disdain–you don’t like me, and I sure as hell don’t like you.

Fuming, Dale had already gone through several cigarettes. “I just want to see my daughter. Why are you people stopping me?”

He ground his teeth.

Arms crossed, Lewis replied, “You’ve got plenty of daughters–you can see any of them you want. But this one, even if she looks a little like you, I still don’t think she’s yours.”

“You-” Dale started.

Lewis cut him off casually. “I’ve got a friend who’s a urologist. Want me to book appointment?”

Really, the whole thing was just… strange.

It wasn’t just Tessa who had this gut feeling that Dale wasn’t her father.

Even Lewis felt it–he just didn’t buy it.

Dale’s breathing quickened. “You two are going too far!”
