Chapter 1567 The Fate He Deserves

Ian asked Aurora, “Sean should’ve gotten old enough to understand things at the time, didn’t he?”

Aurora nodded. “Sean spent most of the time with his mother in the hospital, so I never had any conflict with him.” She had never come into contact with Sean even after Bryce dumped her.

Ian nodded. If it was necessary, he could ask Sean to step forward and say something. After all, Sean should know very well how his mother really died. According to what Ian knew about Sean, Sean probably wouldn’t twist the knife in his wound despite his dislike for him.

Aurora wasn’t as unperturbed as Ian and Cindy, though. After all, she blamed herself somewhat and thought that she had brought Ian into trouble. If it weren’t for the purpose of finding job offers for her, Ian wouldn’t have needed to meet Yulia. However, he ended up being plotted against after seeing Yulia. The surveillance footage had proven his innocence, yet he came under the netizens’ attacks because of her past deeds.

Aurora didn’t get a wink of sleep last night, as she felt terrible no matter how she thought about it. She had ruined Ian’s career before even starting her own.

Cindy went over and sat down beside Aurora before gently patting the latter on the back. “Don’t be too hard on yourself. Even if your innocence can’t be proven on the internet, I believe many netizens are still rational. After all, this doesn’t have much to do with Ian.”

Aurora buried her face in her hands, letting out a long sigh. “I’m mainly afraid that someone might fan the flames. Ian’s career has just started to thrive. It’ll all be my fault if his career comes to a halt because of this.”

Ian replied with a snort, “I don’t like show business very much either. If I don’t get to work in showbiz after this, I’ll just call it quits. Surely I can make a living in some other way.” Moreover, he had enough savings. He might not be filthy rich for the rest of his life, but he would definitely have enough to provide for himself.

Ian wasn’t emotionally attached to the fame and wealth in show business, so he wasn’t very obsessed with whether he was popular or not. In fact, from another point of view, he felt that it would be a relief if he really had to quit show business because of this. In the future, he would be able to go out for dinners, make friends, and attend gatherings normally. He would never have to worry about having his reputation affected and the agency holding him accountable after being identified. Many lauded the joys of being a performing artist, and indeed, it was great—but nobody ever mentioned the drawbacks.

Aurora looked up at Ian, her eyes somewhat moist with tears. “I’m afraid that you’ll blame me.”

Ian didn’t think of it as a matter of importance, though. He leaned against the sofa’s armrest and replied, “Why would I? What had happened in the past isn’t entirely your fault.” He thought of Bryce then. Logan told him last time that Bryce had been hospitalized. He wondered how Bryce was doing in the hospital, but according to Logan, Bryce was probably in quite a miserable state.

Who else could be blamed for this? Bryce has only himself to blame, Ian thought. One wouldn’t suffer the consequences of what they had done in their youth until they got older. This was an unchanging fact, but Bryce had been too conceited in the past, thinking that he could escape fate. Now he finally met the fate he deserved.

As Aurora hadn’t eaten anything until now, Cindy hurried to prepare lunch. She knew what Aurora liked to eat, so she made a special effort to prepare the latter’s favorite dishes.

Aurora was somewhat dejected as she leaned back on the sofa, but she saw at a glance what Cindy was holding when the latter took the ingredients from the fridge and carried them to the kitchen. She remarked with a sigh, “What a wonderful girlfriend you’ve gotten yourself.”
