Chapter 2111 The Purpose of Companionship

Cindy laughed and rubbed circles into Ian's back as she said softly, "Nonetheless, you have to go because you signed a contract. We can take a break after this show is over and done with."

She almost said that they could take a break after his contract was up, but she wasn't sure of the terms he and Hannah had discussed the last time, and she didn't think it was her place to mention plans for after the contract had ended.

He hummed in response and did not say anything more.

After a while, Aurora beckoned them for dinner.

Ian had already packed up his things for the set, and he led Cindy out to the dining room. It was clear to see that he didn't have much of an appetite.

Aurora glanced at both of them and decided to bring up the incident from earlier that day. She only wanted to give Cindy a heads-up, so she said, "The guy actually texted me and told me that he was going to start a riot or something outside Ian's company. He threatened us and said that he would cause a huge scene even if he had no evidence whatsoever; either way, he was sure that Ian's reputation would be wrecked after that."

Cindy raised a brow and found the man's rhetoric somewhat amusing. "He certainly isn't holding back, is he?"

Aurora had the same feeling as well. "He's been driven mad by the idea of ending up with a windfall and has abandoned all reason." After all, people often went wayward in the face of temptation.

Cindy sighed and muttered in response, "It's like he doesn't care at all that we have the right to take legal action against him and sue him for damages. He does realize that he will actually have to compensate us if it all comes down to a lawsuit, right?"

Ian chuckled. "I wouldn't put it past him to be so ignorant, but there's the possibility that he thinks he can get away with refusing to pay us the damages. To be honest, I don't know what's going on in his head; he seems to have his own erratic way of doing things and firmly believes that they will work out in his favor." Having said this, he glanced over at Aurora and asked, "I'm kind of curious as to why you would even be together with a man like him. He's not your usual type, is he?"

The man was neither good-looking nor well-mannered, and Aurora was way out of his league in all aspects.

Upon hearing this, Aurora sighed and said, "Let's just say I wasn't feeling too good about myself and I needed the attention. He treated me well enough at first, and he also took great care of me; he would even take a taxi over to my place just to cook me meals and get me medicine when I was sick." Her gaze flickered over to Cindy as she continued, "You know how we women are. We tend to open up to those who treat us well, and I was really broken back then. He showed up at the right time and I wavered."

Back then, she had only just gotten out of a relationship that had ended on a sour note—it even involved a fight out in the streets and getting taken away to the police station.

The man she was previously with had treated her poorly, and she was never one to suffer in silence, so they spent most of their days fighting like cats and dogs.

To have a man appear in Aurora's life all of a sudden while showing her genuine concern and taking care of her was all it took for her to feel butterflies in her stomach again.
