Chapter 812

After Citrine and Sebastian left, Theo and Quentin seemed like lost souls.

Kali stood off to the side, her face pale and eyes downcast. She bit her lip, struggling to keep her anger in check as she looked at the two of them.

"Quentin, Theo, you both promised you'd spend the day with me."

She was doing her best to keep it together, but her frustration still seeped through. "Sorry, Kali," Theo apologized immediately, realizing he'd been ignoring her.

Quentin, still preoccupied with Citrine's parting words, only snapped back to the present at the sound of Kali's voice. He forced a smile. "Let's go. We're with you now, whatever you want to do."

He managed a strained grin in her direction.

"That's more like it." Kali didn't notice their lack of enthusiasm. Once she saw their attention shift away from Citrine, her mood visibly improved.

But Theo's mind was still elsewhere he couldn't stop thinking about Citrine. All he wanted was to get this day over with. He hurriedly asked, "So, where to next?"

"Let's go to the mall," Kali replied without hesitation.

Theo frowned, just barely.

It wasn't that he was stingy. Even though the Glenwood family had gone bankrupt, he still had some money left-enough to get by. But if Kali kept shopping for luxury goods like she used to, his savings wouldn't last them more than a few trips.

He'd always doted on his little sister, but now, seeing her so oblivious to their situation, he couldn't help but feel she was being childish.

He was about to give her a piece of his mind, but before he could say a word, Kali's eyes went wide and she pleaded with him in the softest voice:
