Chapter 221

Chapter 221: Behind the Door

Angela POV

The commercial flight cruised above the Atlantic.

Sleep eluded me despite my exhaustion. I checked my phone again no new messages, no word from Sean.

I forced my eyes closed, willing my body to rest. The children's faces flashed behind my eyelids, followed by images of Sean wounded, captured, or worse.

Three hours of fitful sleep would have to be enough.

As the plane touched down at the Mediterranean coast airport, my phone immediately lit up with a message from Thomas.

"Mrs. Wilson, I see your flight has landed safely."

"Yes, just arrived. I'm coming out now," I replied, gathering my minimal luggage.

"I'm waiting at the tarmac. Car is ready."

Thomas stood beside a black vehicle, looking tired and concerned.

"Any news?" I asked immediately, though I already knew the answer from his expression.

"Nothing concrete, Mrs. Wilson," Thomas replied, taking my bag and opening the car door. "We've been monitoring Mr. Blake's known properties in the region, but there's been no unusual activity"

I slid into the backseat, my mind already racing ahead to what awaited me. "The Mediterranean villa-the one in Portofino where Christopher and I spent holidays- has anyone checked there?"

Thomas hesitated before answering. "We've had it under surveillance, but there's no sign of Mr. Shaw's security detail or any unusual activity."

"That's where Christopher will be," I said with certainty. "That's what he meant by 'our old place.""

The car pulled away from the airstrip, gliding smoothly along coastal roads.

I stared out at the azure waters, remembering afternoons spent on Christopher's yacht, evenings on the terrace overlooking the sea. Five years of friendship, support-all now tainted by obsession and betrayal.

My phone rang, displaying' an unfamiliar European number. I exchanged a glance with Thomas before answering, putting it on speaker.
