Theodric, the young heir, peeked out from behind Aveline. He seemed half–asleep, his eyes drowsy, but when he saw Isolde, they widened in delight. “Isolde!” he exclaimed.

Isolde picked him up with a smile, “Theodric, you’re so well–behaved! Up so early to accompany Aveline into the palace?”

The onlookers now realized who Isolde was–the highly sought–after princess, the General. They couldn’t help but glance at her a few more times.

Caroline, after returning home that day, had told the Hanson family about the incident with the Valen family. Margaret had been punished by Pablo because of Isolde, and the family, upon hearing this, harbored some resentment toward Isolde, feeling that she had stirred up trouble even before officially joining the family.

Present today was also Alice, Margaret’s mother.

Among the noblewomen present, Alice was the eldest. She had been sitting in her sedan chair, waiting for the palace gates to open. Caroline lifted the curtain and whispered a few words to her, prompting Alice to extend her hand and say with authority, “Help me down!”

Her hair was styled in a high bun, adorned with a gold and emerald hairpin, and she wore gold earrings with emerald pendants. On her wrist was a gold bangle engraved with Buddhist scriptures. She appeared to be a devout Buddhist, yet her attire was opulent and eye–catching.
