Chapter 84-

This was the first time Jocelyn heard the past story of Willow and Melvin. Though Willow didn’t go into detail about the family crisis Melvin had faced, Jocelyn could tell it was because of this that he’d always indulged Willow.

Teenage friends tuming into lovers, who could replace that?

At least Jocelyn didn’t think she had the strength to make a last stand. Being the unloved one in a relationship was a guaranteed path to a shattered heart.

“Why are you still watching this?” Ursula came over and saw the video still playing on Jocelyn’s screen. Turn it off.”

Ursula was the only person aside from Preston at school who knew the whole messy story between Jocelyn and Melvin, though she didn’t know all the details. She knew their relationship was over.

It was obvious a new player Willow, had entered the game, one with a strong hand, and Jocelyn didn’t stand a chance.

Jocelyn closed the video and took a deep breath. I’m fine. It’s just for entertainment, right? It’s out there for people to see.”

“If I were you, I wouldn’t contribute to the video’s view counts, Ursula said. Though she didn’t know much about Willow, she disliked her hypocritical look.

Jocelyn forced a smile. “Got any plans tonight? Fancy grabbing a bite this afternoon?”

“No class tonight Ursula glanced at the clock. “I’m off after this one, so see you later

“Okay.

Later that afternoon, Jocelyn and Ursula walked out of school together, just in time to overhear the principal on a call discussing something about the school.

Once they were outside the school gates, Ursula whispered, “The school’s expanding. They’re planning to build another teaching block on the west side. But there’s a funding gap, and the principal has been running around trying to fill it.”

“Doesn’t the school board allocate funds for that sort of thing?”

Ursula shook her head with a sigh. “Far from enough to build a new block. Plus, another local high school is also expanding. Money isn’t that easy to come by.”

Jocelyn didn’t quite grasp the intricacies, but it sounded complicated.

“Both the government and school officials are trying to figure out who can cough up the cash, Ursula continued cautiously. There are plenty of successful business people in town, but getting them to do charity work with no return is a tall order.”

Jocelyn replied. “As long as it’s for the future of our country, there will always be someone willing to take on the hardest tasks.”

“That’s true, but who knows when it’ll be our school’s turn.” Ursula changed the subject of talks, and they drove off towards the bustling
