Chapter 0252

Liam POV

As Lottie drove quickly down the lanes, I closed my eyes, my stomach lurching with every sharp turn.

"I can't believe you let her drive." V hissed, and I had to agree; it had been a little reckless on my behalf.

"Yeah, my bad." I muttered, hating that he was right, as I would never live this down.

"Not only is she driving like a lunatic, she is pregnant. I thought pregnant females were meant to be calmer and careful." V continued to growl out in frustration.

"Her mate is in trouble." I reminded him, "What would you do if.."

"Nothing, I would do nothing," V corrected me, a lie we both knew. V was insanely protective.

"What the.." I barked when suddenly, I heard a clunk. My eyes snapped open, and I twisted around to see she scraped the car against what looked like a fence through the side mirror. But she was going too fast for me to be sure. "You are insane!" I groaned as I span to glare at her; she met my gaze with a grin, offering a carefree,

"Don't blame her for your stupid decision to let her drive." V reprimanded me, a smile tweaking my lips.

"Oops, I'll pay for that." I wanted to be furious, to scold her for her recklessness, but her smile-radiating a sense of freedom and sheer enjoyment of the moment-softened my irritation.

"Damn right, you will," I informed her, trying to sound stern and authoritative, but she simply chuckled in response.

"You know I am technically poor, right?" She sassed, her lips curling.

"You, sister, are not poor. You are a dreadful driver, yes, but not poor." I winked as we emerged into the small town from the tangle of country lanes.

"We are here?" I asked, shocked by how quickly we had made it. The pace she set may have been frantic, but fuck was it effective.
