Chapter 0256

Lottie POV

As I slowly approached, my eyes scanned Knox's features, searching for any hint that he might wrestle some control back from Havoc, who evidently had taken over. There was nothing; the wild, untamed look in his eyes told me that Havoc was firmly in charge. "And the red is a dead give away too." Sage sassed like now was the bloody time.

But despite Sage's less than helpful chatter, I knew that Knox wasn't returning and Havoc wasn't relinquishing control any time soon. But I relaxed somewhat because I had managed to calm him once before at the ball when the twins presented me as their mate; the memory burning the back of my brain giving me a flicker of hope that I could reach him again.

Extending my hand towards him as he lay on the floor, still bloodied and battered, I watched the bruises on his skin begin to heal slowly. Despite everything, I felt a wave of relief, knowing that at least his wolf was trying to mend the damage done to Knox's body. "What, is Kitty not good enough now?" I teased, trying to get his attention as he ignored my extended hand, his eyes scanning the room frantically, no doubt assessing the potential threats around him.

"We... he is worried about US," Sage remarked with a scoff, her mood evidently souring. She watched Havoc through my eyes with a mix of upset and betrayal, her presence tense.

"Let's try to keep things calm for now, for all our sakes." With a sigh, I whispered to her like one might a child who needed lulling. I could sense Sage's distress and the turmoil behind her anger, and it was crucial to maintain peace and not let emotions win. "I will if he will cut out the BS." she muttered aggressively.
