Chapter 0308

Knox POV

The tension in the room thickened like a dense fog. Kane's eyes flashed with a mix of frustration and desperation as he reached out through our mindlink.

"Knox, please. This isn't the time to bring up family issues. We can't afford to get sidetracked." His mental voice was strained, pleading. I smirked, relishing the discomfort etched on his face.

"Why not? Afraid they'll find out the truth about dear old Dad?" I shot back silently, taunting him.

"I'm serious, Knox. Keep it between us. Charlotte's safety comes first," Kane insisted, his eyes flickering with a hint of vulnerability that only fueled my desire to push further.

Adam and Liam exchanged confused glances, sensing the unspoken exchange but unaware of its content. The air grew heavier, every second stretching the silence taut. I took a deliberate step forward, my gaze locked onto Kane's. "Maybe they deserve to know what kind of man they're dealing with," I suggested through the mindlink, watching as a flash of panic crossed his features.

"Don't do this," Kane warned, a hint of anger seeping into his thoughts. "Not now."

"Is there something you're not telling us?" Adam interjected aloud, his eyes narrowing as he looked between the two of us. Liam's posture stiffened, his attention sharpening at the implication.

I felt a surge of satisfaction. This was it the moment to shatter the illusions Kane so desperately clung to. But as I opened my mouth to speak, a sliver of doubt pierced through my resolve. "Knox, please," Kane's voice softened in my mind, a raw sincerity I hadn't heard in months. "For once, put aside our differences. We need to focus on finding her."

I hesitated, the weight of his plea hanging heavily between us. Havoc stirred within me, conflicted emotions swirling like a storm. The room seemed to hold its breath, all eyes fixed on me. "Well?" Liam prompted, impatience edging his tone. "Are you going to fill us in?"
