Chapter 0322

Kane POV

"Knox!" I shouted, rushing to his side in a blind panic. My heart hammered in my chest as I dropped to my knees beside him. "Let me see," I urged, trying to pry his hand away to assess the wound. The sight of so much blood made my stomach churn. "Didn't... see it coming," he gasped, breathing laboured. His attempt at a smile was feeble, the colour draining rapidly from his cheeks.

"Stay with me, brother," I urged, pressing a hand against the wound to stem the bleeding. It was just a blade wound; it didn't even look silver. Why wasn't he healing? Fear tightened its grip on me as I realised his body showed no signs of mending. "Touching. But futile." Sebastian's taunting laughter echoed around us.

"Chase! Silence him!" I barked, unable to keep the desperation out of my voice. Chase didn't hesitate. He lunged at Sebastian, blades flashing. The two clashed in a fierce exchange, metal ringing against metal. I focused back on Knox, but my hands trembled. This couldn't be happening. He was my brother-I couldn't lose him, not now when we were just getting back on the same page.

"Why aren't you healing?" I whispered, pressing harder against the wound. His blood was warm against my hands, a stark reminder of how real this was. Chase returned moments later, his hands coated in blood. Sebastian lay on the floor behind him, quiet and still. "Silenced," Chase nodded, tearing a strip from his sweatpants-Charlotte's pink sweatpants, actually. The scent of her enveloped me, a bittersweet reminder of why we were here. I pressed the fabric against Knox's side, hoping it would help. He managed a weak, lopsided smile.

"Guess Havoc isn't invincible after all," he murmured a hint of amusement in his eyes despite the pain.

"Prick!" I scoffed before narrowing my eyes on him. "Save your strength," I insisted, licking my suddenly dry lips. Anxiety gripped my core. This couldn't be happening. Not to Knox. Not now. Chase's eyes widened as Sebastian stirred behind him.

"I slit your throat," he gasped. "I didn't want to, but I had to." He stared at his bloodied hands, disbelief etched on his face.

"Yeah, it didn't stick," Sebastian laughed, shaking his head as he rose to his feet. Only then did I notice the eerie red glimmer in his eyes as he looked at Knox and I.

"Touching. But futile." Sebastian took a step forward.

"He's possessed," I thought, a chill running down my spine. But Rolo, my wolf, whispered a different possibility.
