Chapter 631: What a Monster!

She just needed to be sure.

She needed to hear him say it.

"Arthur?" she called softly, breaking his long silence.

His gaze flicked to her, unreadable. He must have realized she wouldn’t let it go until he said something.

"I think..." His voice was steady, though colder than usual. "...you should do whatever makes you happy."

"I see." Nnenna nodded slowly. Then, as if testing him, she added, "And you would be happy if Darius and I ended up together?"

The question landed like a stone in still water. Both men stiffened, Carl’s eyes widening. He nearly asked her what exactly she was getting at, suspecting she knew far more than she should, but Arthur beat him to it.

"Where’s this coming from?" His tone sharpened, but he caught himself, forcing it into a measured calm.

Nnenna turned to face him fully, expression unreadable, almost innocent. "I don’t know. I just want to know if you approve. Should it have to come from anywhere?"

Carl’s brow arched, but he stayed silent. This wasn’t his battle. This was Arthur’s, and only Arthur’s, to answer.

Arthur let the silence stretch, scanning her face as though he could dig out some hidden meaning. But there was nothing. She looked entirely sincere, like she was simply asking a harmless question.

Finally, he gave the only answer he could.

"No. It shouldn’t. And as for your question..." His voice tightened, clipped, leaving no space for follow up. "If you’re happy, then I’m happy."

Two months went by in a blur.

Nnenna spent the entire time helping others, motivating them, encouraging them, comforting them, advising them. If there was something she could do, she did it. Yet not once did she focus on her own rehab.

To everyone else, it was strange. Why register if she wasn’t going to work on herself? Some whispered she should’ve just applied to work at the facility and earn a salary.

With her background and connections, running the entire place would’ve been child’s play. But who dared question her? To them, she was like a great Buddha, too untouchable, too radiant, too determined.

Finally, on the last night of those two months, Nnenna sat quietly in her room. Tonight would be her first attempt to walk again after so many months.

No one understood what she had truly been doing all this time except her and the Love System. Every effort, every act of kindness, every ounce of encouragement she gave others had not been for nothing.

She had gained more than just goodwill, she had gathered enough points to not only walk again but also to be better prepared for the war looming ahead.

she still worked with Arthur and Carl. Together, they pieced through reports and sightings. From what they had gathered so far, Athena was making bolder moves than ever,
