Chapter 748:

Ernest, observing Elissa’s fragile state, nodded in understanding. “I see now,” he said, rising from his seat.

Hadley, also standing, asked, “Are you leaving?”

“No,” Ernest replied, shaking his head. “It wouldn’t be right to leave her alone. I’ll arrange for a skilled caregiver.”

A warmth spread through Hadley as she expressed her gratitude. “Ernest, thank you so much. On Elissa’s behalf, I really appreciate it.”

Ernest dismissed the gratitude with a shake of his head. “There’s no need.” For him, arranging a caregiver was a modest act of kindness, though he knew it might not be enough in the long run.

Later that evening, Hadley sent Eric a message, asking him to pick her up from the hospital. Elissa remained sedated and unresponsive. The caregiver, arranged by Ernest, had already been briefed by Hadley before she left the room.
