Chapter 1028:

She had first had them wheel her into a chair, and then dismissed them. Her legs were useless, but her arms worked fine. So she’d rolled herself to the window and hauled herself up, bit by bit.

“Haha…” Hadley smirked at the explanation. “Guess she’s dead-set on ending it all.”

“Hadley…” Eric abruptly turned to her, his breathing ragged and strained.

“Why are you staring at me?” Hadley’s tone was cold. “Eyes on her—she’s the one trying to off herself.”

Linda, hearing the stir, twisted around from her perch. Upon spotting Eric, tears gushed down her cheeks. “Why did you come back? Didn’t you stop caring about me anymore?”

“Linda…” Eric stiffened, inching closer with care. “You’ve got it wrong. I never said that… Come down, and let’s talk this out, okay?”

“No! Stay back!” She screamed, her voice wild and unhinged as she jabbed a finger at Hadley beside him. “You’re a liar! You’ve been lying this whole time!”

Linda shook her head frantically, sobbing. “You ran to her! She’s all you care about… Ernest has Elissa now—he’s done with me. And you, for Hadley, you’ve tossed me aside too…” Her glare locked onto Eric, her voice rising with each word.
