Chapter 1058:

Outside the hospital, they parted ways at the entrance, each heading off on their own.

Hadley pulled out her phone—still no messages. No calls. Eric hadn’t contacted her at all.

And there was no word from Ernest either.

Where was Eric?

Rain had been falling for days in Srixby, and that night, it only grew heavier.

As the storm raged on, Hadley tucked Joy into bed. Afterward, she stepped into the kitchen and poured herself a glass of water.

A sudden clap of thunder rattled the living room windows. The sound made her jump. Her hand shook, and water sloshed over the rim of the glass.

Then, out of nowhere, a strange feeling gripped her.

She set the glass down and rushed to the window, pulling back the curtain. Below, the street was shrouded in darkness. Trees swayed violently in the wind, their shadows flickering against the wet pavement.

And in the distance—just for a second—she thought she saw a faint light.
