With clenched teeth, Kade hurled the phone at the wall, causing it to shatter into a thousand pieces. “That b ast ard!” he shouted, his neck muscles straining.
Alpha Theo had placed him in a difficult situation. Even though he refuted that Ed had gone rogue, Alpha Theo didn’t buy it. The Supreme was too intelligent to be tricked. Now a bigger problem arose. He had no choice but to go to the border of the Blue Moon pack as per Supreme’s orders, for the initiation ceremony where he would be compelled to break the pack bond with Carmine.
He pinched the bridge of his nose as frustration mounted. Each time he believed he was getting closer to Carmine, he was pushed even farther away. Whenever fate granted. him the possibility of reclaiming her, he would squander it. He cursed himself for sending Ed to get her. That was his biggest mistake.
“Kade?” Ruby’s voice, filled with concern, came. “What happened, baby?” she asked, touching his shoulder. It looked like he had run miles and miles. His chest heaved and his skin glistened with dust and sweat.
He removed her hand from his shoulder rudely. “Stay away from me!” He hated her so much. He snarled, his fangs elongating. “Because of you, I am in this state. I could have had Carmine, but because of you my wolf is suffering like hell. I hate you, Ruby! Get lost!”
Ruby flinched and stepped back. “Wh-what are you saying, Kade? This is really unfair.” Her eyes brimmed with tears. The serpent of jealousy coiled tight in her chest. “It was your choice to marry me. Did you want to repeat the same mistake that your father committed? Did you intend to marry a woman without heritage, money, or standing in society?” A tear slid down her eye. “How could you put someone like Carmine above me? She is nothing but a vermin who is now being used by Alpha Theo. Do you realize she wh ored her way to Alpha Theo’s bed just to spite you? She will do that again and-
“Enough!” Kade let out a loud roar and delivered a powerful slap to her face, causing her to fall to the floor and slide into the opposite wall.
She screamed as the sensation of a slap that was nothing short of a lightning strike seared across her cheek. The shock felt like an earthquake, its tangible, visceral reminiscent reverberating through her. “K-Kade?” she said as she looked at him, eyes wide and b*dy shaking like it was caught in the tumultuous waters of fear.
Kade strode to her and grabbed her hair. Yanking them back painfully, he peeled his lips back and snarled on her face, “Don’t you say a word about her from that potty mouth of yours. I am going to get her back and then I am going to toss you out of my pack. No, scratch that. I am going to throw you in the dungeons and torture the hell out of you!”

“But Kade, I am the Luna of the Blue Moon pack. How can you-” she said through her tears, still trembling in his grasp.
“Shut the f uck up, wench! I’ve had enough of your devious schemes. If I had listened to- my wolf instead of you, I would have been with Carmine. You are nothing in front of her!”
The door opened and his mother, Ivy, walked in. When she saw the two of them, she rushed to Ruby’s side. “What the hell are you doing?” she scolded him as she forced him to leave her hair and hugged Ruby tightly. She couldn’t believe that Kade would behave like this with Ruby.
Kade snarled at her and got up, stabbing his fingers in his hair. He walked to the
the? window. Another worry added to his pile of worries. He hadn’t told Ruby and his mother that he had gone to get Carmine. Now how was he going to tell them about the initiation ceremony for which Theo had called him?
“Mother!” Ruby wailed and clutched Ivy, burying her face in the crook of her neck. “It’s all because of Carmine. I-I hate her!” she sniffled.
Ivy looked at her son with shock on her face. “Are you insane?” she shouted. “How can you compare Ruby to Carmine? Carmine was a blo ody rogue but Ruby is your Beta’s daughter. Don’t you understand the social standing at all?”
“For f uck’s sake, mother!” he turned and shouted at her. “Did you know Carmine comes, from a special pool of werewolves that only produces Alpha pups?”
Ivy froze. She stared at Kade’s face for a long time, as if trying to make sense of his words. The genes he referred to were extremely rare, and she had knowledge of a male werewolf who lived a hundred years ago. All at once, her thoughts ran to Carmine’s hair, which she kept braided at all times. “Her hair-

Ivy slapped her hand on her mouth as she got up, leaving a very confused Ruby on the floor. “But that bloodline mainly had male wolves, and they all had silver-tipped hair. Carmine’s hair was golden tipped.”
“Yes, that’s what?” he said, shaking his head. “She is a rare wolf…”
Ivy’s mouth dropped to the floor. When her face turned to look at Ruby, her expressions turned into that of disdain. She placed her hand on her heart and stumbled back, sitting on the sofa with a thud. “What have we done?”
“Mother?” Bewilderment overcame Ruby. “What are you saying?” She felt like her world was crumbling by the minute. A so b escaped her throat. “Are you favoring that b itch over me? She is nothing in front of me!”

Ivy was still in a daze. “What have we done?” she muttered, ignoring Ruby. “We have to get her back!”
Kade closed his eyes. Alpha Theo ordered him for the initiation ceremony. How was he going to get her back?
“You can’t get her back!” Ruby shouted with her fists clenched. “I am the Luna of the Blue Moon pack!”
“Kade,” Ivy said, jumping up from her seat. “Do something, but get her back. While. Ruby remains the Luna of the pack, it’s crucial to have Carmine beside you.”
Kade snapped his head to look at his mother with amusement. “But you were against her?”
“You fool. Had you mentioned about her earlier, I would have never gone against her.”

“Mother, she isn’t the type who will stay like my mistress. I tried my best, but she escaped the last time and she would do that again.”
With her chin, she pointed at the door, asking Ruby to leave the room. Ruby stormed out of the room with anger blasting in her chest, muttering curses under her breath. As soon as the door closed, Ivy resumed, “Do whatever it takes to bring Carmine back. Ruby will continue as the Luna of the Blue Moon pack until you get Carmine. Once she comes to you, we will ask Ruby to leave. You will reject her and then banish her from the pack, ensuring she doesn’t bother us.”
Kade had never been so surprised in his life. “Are you sure, mother?”
“Of course!” she breathed. “This pack needs Carmine, not Ruby. You are going to build an army of her pups and then we will rule the world!”
Kade chuckled. After a long time, he finally felt confident. He explained to her the whole situation. “How are we going to go about it?” he asked at the end.
Ivy narrowed her eyes. “Go for the ceremony. Sever the bond. It’s a smaller battle that comes before a larger one. Once you sever the bond amiably, she will start trusting you. Then invite both of them for a farewell dinner.
Turning around, Joseph let out a low whistle as he observed the boutique space. “This is beautiful!” he breathed as if he had won a lottery. “For the money you are saying, it is worth its value in gold!” he said to the mall owner, Lake Veritos. His gaze shifted to Carmine, who was studying the arched French style windows and the expansive fireplace with a mantle. “What do you think, Carmine?” he asked.

“It is beautiful,” she said skeptically. “But the price you have stated is lower than the market price.”
Lake stifled his surprise gasp because he knew how smart Carmine was. At the same time, he was working on Alpha’s orders. “I’ve offered you that price because I am interested in partnership in your venture,” he quickly replied with a rehe ars ed answer. Lake Veritos was the second-in-line to the head spy of the Gold Moon pack.
“Oh!” Carmine grinned. That was acceptable. “We would like to complete the formalities,” she said after a few seconds.
Lake pumped his fists in the air men tally. “All formalities will be over in an hour, Miss. Carmine!”
“We won’t be needing this!” Una said with an exasperated sigh as she picked out five donuts.
Thor snat ched it from her hand and stashed it back in the backpack. “I love donuts!”
The nanny sighed as Carmine watched her son eagerly putting things in the bag. She didn’t want to go camping with Theo because she was in no mood to spend time with him, but she had to on Thor’s insistence. He started crying after she refused him outright.

Teeth clenched, she tossed it onto the bed, regretting her weakness for his sweet words.
They had to leave for a place called Willow Highlands in an hour near the Blue Moon pack. Should she take the opportunity to see Alpha Kade and sever the bond with his pack? The prospect of severing the bond seemed too lucrative to her, and even though she was reluctant to go camping, she agreed. Anyway, it was just a matter of two days. and she was definitely going to sleep in her own tent.
She ended up packing two shorts, a pair of thigh-high boots, sneakers, jeans and two shirts. Other than that, Una informed her that a group of five warriors would. accompany them, who will carry most of the stuff. Flint’s offer to come along with two assistants, Charlie and Kat, caught her by surprise.
Alpha Theo came to stand at the door of the room with a smirk on his face and hands in his pocket as he watched her. When their gazes locked, she frowned, remembering what he had carved for her in the half heart. He was watching her closely, waiting for some kind of signal or a hope that she had read his message. Since she didn’t want him to have hopes, she averted her gaze immediately.
“Alpha Theo!” Thor rushed to him and hugged his thigh. “I can’t wait to go camping!”
Theo picked up his pup and k*ssed him on his cheek. “Neither can I, pup.” He winked at him, and Thor winked back. Carmine’s brows furrowed a little when she saw them. winking at each other, but she shrugged and busied herself in brushing her hair. As she tied them in a high ponytail, she found Alpha Theo watching her reflection in the mirror intensely. Her cheeks colored, and she bit her bottom lip.
On the porch, three jeeps were waiting for them. Carmine wished to sit in the jeep that Theo wasn’t occupying. She went to the second one.

Exhausted from arguing with Sebastian all day, I quickly drifted into a deep sleep on the soft bed. The room, once filled with tension, became a peaceful haven. My heavy eyelids succumbed to the calming pull of sleep, and the comfortable mattress seemed to ease away the day’s stress.
In the gentle embrace of sleep, I let go of the day’s troubles. The soft bed cradled me, offering comfort and restoration.
A few hours passed when my deep slumber was quickly halted as I suddenly felt a strong and warm arm wrapped around my waist. I immediately came to my senses when I remembered that I wasn’t wearing anything beneath the thick sheet.
I gasped for air when I felt his hand cupping my right breast. I tried to stay still and continue pretending to be asleep. But I’m not sure how long I will be able to go along with this act.
