Mitzi and her plump, bespectacled friend exchanged swift glances. They had already noticed that Skylar was now inside the massive space, surrounded by hundreds of dogs in their enclosures.

“You’re supposed to be some sort of big shot, right? How dare you shut my beloved Gerry into a room with a ton of ferocious dogs? I’m going to make sure you get savaged to death by all the dogs in this place!” Mitzi gave a scornful sniff, then bent and cuddled the head of the massive black dog at her side. She pointed at Skylar, standing on the walkway by the dog pens.
