When Zoey had been younger, she had also had a crush on Xavier. She had kept up with his life and had initially wanted to marry him.

But now that he was blind, she had chosen Jeremiah, who was currently more accomplished than Xavier. She no longer cared about her past feelings. She said, "Xavier, Yvette, let's have a drink."

To make it easier for Xavier, she handed the glass to him. All he had to do was raise his hand to take it.
