There were three men and an elevator attendant inside.

The three men were Bernard and his two friends. When the elevator door opened, Bernard was momentarily stunned to see Hera and Samantha standing there. His first thought was, "What is she doing here?"

His second thought was his guilt. He had told Hera he was going back to the Killians.
