Chapter 153

"He didn't say anything specific, just mentioned it was an old issue. Honestly, I have no idea what old issue it could be."

Since graduating from high school, Amara hadn't really been back to the Sullivan household, and her contact with Larry had been sporadic at best. She had no clue what kind of health problems Larry might have had.

"I'll come with you," Finnian said.

Amara instinctively replied, "No need, I can go by myself."

"He's my father-in-law," Finnian quickly countered. "We should both go see him." Amara hesitated for a moment. True enough, Larry was Finnian's father-in-law, and Larry would probably appreciate seeing them both together. So, she didn't argue further, quickly explained the situation to Keith, and headed out the door.

At the hospital room, Amara saw Larry in a hospital gown, lying on the bed. His face, usually so commanding, now appeared a bit pale.

A young nurse was at the bedside, explaining his condition. Amara walked over and asked, "Dad, I'm here. What landed you in the hospital? Why didn't you tell me about any previous issues?"

Larry waved the nurse away. Once the door was closed, he said, "It's nothing much. A few years back, I had a benign tumor in my lung; it was removed, but it recently came back."
