Soon, the door swung open, and there stood Finnian.

He was wearing a black robe, loosely tied at the waist, revealing a well-toned chest that screamed masculinity. Amara immediately lowered her gaze and said, "Mr. Everly, I'm here."

Finnian lifted her chin, his eyes locking onto her face. "You're late."

Pulling away, Amara glanced at her phone. "Only by two minutes. Does that really count?"

"Of course, it does."

Finnian pulled her inside, pressing her against the door frame, his arms on either side of her. "Haven't you heard the saying 'time is money'?"

Amara was at a loss.

This man was impossible!

Amara thought for a moment and replied, "Last time we went to finalize our divorce, Mr. Everly, you stood me up without a word. This time, I was a tad tardy. So, let's call it even."

Finnian hadn't expected her to bring that up and was momentarily taken aback. Slowly, a smile crept onto his lips. "Alright, we're even."

He hadn't really intended to make a big deal out of the two minutes; he was just teasing her.
