Chapter 157

Teresa had fallen asleep in the backseat when they arrived at Fenwell Garden. The driver pulled over, turned off the engine, and lit a cigarette while waiting.

He stared at Teresa in the rearview mirror, his gaze deep and unfathomable. It was hard to tell what he was thinking.

Suddenly, a phone rang, shattering the silence. The man pulled out his phone and immediately put it on silent mode, but it still woke Teresa up.

"Have we arrived?" She sat up and rubbed her eyes, not noticing that anything was out of the ordinary. She grabbed her bag and got out of the car. "Thanks, mister."

The man leaned against the car window and watched as she entered the apartment building. Then, he took a deep drag of his cigarette before stubbing it out and getting out of the car. Teresa checked the details and scrutinized the license plate number. When she saw what it was, her ears started ringing. She'd gotten the license plate number wrong!

It was supposed to be DI2625, but she'd seen it as DI1265. The "I" in the license plate number had confused her. What a mistake to make!
