Chapter 265

Half an hour later, Stephanie burst into the hospital. Allison was still in the ER.

Yanis stood at the entrance, snapping into his phone, “Get that truck driver here. I’m questioning him myself.”

Even from a distance, Stephanie could feel the heat rolling off him.

The hospital director and dean were hovering nearby, their faces etched with worry.

Yanis ended the call and turned to Kim Lynn, his assistant. “Check that driver’s bank records,” he said, his voice tight.

Kim nodded. “Already did.” He handed over his phone. Yanis barely had to ask–Kim had been his go–to for years.

He’d sensed something was off the moment the ambulance was called. It wasn’t paranoia. Lately, people around Yanis had been turning against Allison.

Yanis took Kim’s phone and glanced at it, his presence suddenly radiating unsettling hostility.

Stephanie had hurried to the hospital, intending to tell Yanis what the driver had noticed. But now, it seemed Yanis had already gotten the information.

Yanis narrowed his eyes. “In that case, bring Lilith…” He paused, then continued more forcefully, “Bring her to the police station.”

Kim felt a flicker of unease. He nodded and then asked, “What about your

mother?”

Lilith was a distant niece of Sharon, connected through her cousin’s brother–in–law, so they weren’t particularly close. Lilith’s parents had died in a plane crash two years ago.

Though they weren’t close, there were still family ties. And since Sharon’s cousin had personally suggested it, Lilith ended up staying with the Lewis family.

Sharon seemed to take a liking to Lilith, probably because Lilith knew how to charm her. She was also interested in setting Lilith up with Yanis.

With everything that had happened, Kim was sure Sharon was gonna cause a fuss–especially since she was so fond of Lilith.
