Chapter 282

I stayed in the kitchen for as long as possible to avoid Alexander. But that plan didn’t work out so well when I brought the finished mashed potatoes to the table, and the only seat left was next to Alexander. I glared at Ava and Richard, knowing that this had been orchestrated by them just like they had me to sit next to him in the car when we were in Luceland.

I didn’t want to make things even more awkward by pitching a fit about where I sat. But my mouth dried when I sat next to him because I could feel the warmth and energy coming off of him. My body was overly aware of him.

Thankfully, as the six of us loaded our plates with lobster mashed potatoes, Mac and Cheese, and buttered corn on the cob, Alexander was quiet. I nodded and took a bite of the juicy lobster. I already knew this information.

“Theres nothing to worry about,” Richard announced. “Chloe and her mother will not get away with their crimes this time. I just got back from Luceland, and Chloe’s well–connected aunt wasn’t enough to help her. Chloe has pleaded guilty to all charges, and she was sent to jail today.”
