Chapter 496 Richard Didn't Let Aleah Go

Betty sighed in relief. "I'm just glad you're okay."

"I can handle myself. I was worried about you." Richard rubbed Betty's head. He didn't trust anyone's words about her; he only trusted his feelings and what he saw.

Betty's eyes reddened, and she hugged Richard, her voice choked. "Let's go home," she said.

"Alright, I'll take you home." Richard took off his coat, wrapped it around Betty, and held her as they got into the car.

Betty had been strong on her own for years, but now she had someone to rely on. She clung to Richard, not wanting to let go.

Richard sighed, kissed her head, and said, "If only we had met earlier. I wouldn't have let you suffer."

"I had a dream that day," Betty said, lying on Richard's lap with a weak smile. "I dreamed I went back to my childhood, transferred to your school, and when you were about to drop out, I threatened you not to."

"I even made you follow me, protect me, and if you didn't listen, I wouldn't give you food," Betty said softly.

"You treated me like Lucky?" Richard laughed.

Lucky was a stray cat they had picked up, a fluffy little yellow tomcat.

Betty named him Lucky and even took him to get neutered.

She said she had him neutered to prevent him from going out during mating season and messing around with female cats.

Richard suspected Betty did it deliberately to warn him.

"In the dream, you and Lucky merged into one." Betty chuckled.

"Neutered?" Richard raised an eyebrow and pinched Betty's cheek playfully.

Betty laughed and hugged Richard tightly. "No way. If you were neutered, what would I do?"

Richard rubbed Betty's head, making sure she calmed down before he sighed in relief. "Let's go home; the food's getting cold."

Betty opened her mouth but didn't ask.

She wanted to know how Richard would handle the situation with Aleah.
