Kaia’s face was pale as she peered down from the rooftop, lashes trembling.

Lucien had landed on the inflatable rescue pad the firefighters had just set up.

But she couldn’t tell if he was hurt.

Without hesitation, Kaia bolted for the stairs. Her legs were still shaky, but she pushed through.
